Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Monday said that civil airport at Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur would be operational very soon.
“Civil airport at Jagdalpur will come into operation very soon. Visakhapatnam to Jagdalpur flights likely to start from September,” Mehrishi said after the day-long security review meeting here with the Chief Ministers of Maoist-affected states chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The meet came days after the leftist rebels killed at least 25 paramilitary troopers in forested patch in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
Earlier, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had announced that the Jagdalpur airport will be able to cater to commercial operations from September 2017.
