Let the scripting of Air India’s future begin with professionalising it

Even half-hearted suggestions of a stake sale (read: privatisation) in Air India (AI) have invariably been followed by virulent protests. This has compelled the government to repeatedly deny the existence of any such plan.

As a result, AI continues to be in a turnaround mode for over two decadeswith every incumbent aviation minister and AI chairman and managing director periodically making claims of having achieved success, even if discernible signs of a meaningful turnaround have been non-existent.
