More amenities sought at Visakhapatnam airport

VISAKHAPATNAM: Despite the efforts of the authorities to put the amenities for passengers in place at Visakhapatnam International airport, it appears to fall short of the requirement.  Highlighting the need to create more amenities at the city airport, the Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers Association has sent a letter to the Airport Authority of India director Prakash Reddy.

The discussions on the issues and improvements of the amenities were held with Prakash Reddy, and Dinish Kumar, CISF Commandant, recently which included strengthening of the security.
The increase in the passenger count at the airport in the peak hours is resulting in congestion at the main entrance, security check-point and boarding points, the Air Travellers Association highlighted.
It appealed to the AAI authorities that there was a urgent need to increase the number of entry and security check-points on the airport premises, say the association members.

Moreover, there is also a need to increase the number of X-ray machines, scanning units at the security check-point for speedy clearance of the papers of passengers before they board the flights.
With more and more number of flights from the city to other destinations being added, the passenger movement has seen a significant increase when compared to the previous years. But, the lack of amenities still remain a concern at the international airport.
