Gold worth Rs 15 lakh seized at airport

The air intelligence unit at the Dabolim International Airport intercepted a Kerala native on Tuesday morning and found gold strips worth Rs 15 lakh from his bag. The accused arrived by Oman Airways flight no. WY-209 from Muscat. The accused was intercepted at the exit gate of the customs arrival hall. The passenger had opted for the Green Channel meant for passengers who don't have anything to declare. On searching his baggage, officers recovered and seized 580g of gold strips valued at Rs 14.97 lakh . The gold strips were concealed within a stroller bag covered with rexin with adhesive tape. Similarly, on July 10, the unit of Goa customs intercepted another Kerala native who arrived by Air India from Dubai. On searching his trolley bag, officials found and seized 348g of gold bars valued at Rs 9 lakh.
