India's Star Air eyes 1Q18 launch using ERJ-145s

Star Air (India) (Belgaum) is an Indian start-up planning to commence scheduled passenger flights during the first quarter of 2018.

An airline statement says it has already secured two ERJ-145s which will deliver towards year-end in time for a proposed February 2018 launch.

In March this year, parent firm Ghodawat Enterprises applied to the Indian government for permission to operate a Scheduled Air Transport Service. In its application, the firm said Star Air would run regular passenger flights from Belgaum to Mumbai Int'l, Delhi Int'l, Chennai, and Tirupati initially before expanding further afield in the Indian market.
