Nitin Gadkari calls for seaplane trails at Nagpur, Mumbai, Varanasi and Rajasthan

To give an impetus to tourism, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport Highways and Shipping, Government of India on Sunday called for seaplane trials to be conducted in Nagpur, Mumbai, Varanasi and Rajasthan. A Japanese firm will deliver seaplanes in September. After trials, a final decision to launch seaplanes will be taken. Speaking during the induction ceremony of the first aircraft from another party at Air India’s maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Nagpur, Gadkari asked Ajay Singh, Chairman, SpiceJet, to start flight services from Nagpur. Singh said, “We are told that there was a high demand for Nagpur-Mumbai flights in the evening. We will study the passenger traffic and then take a decision.”
