Panel to review security outside airport

Jaipur: Rajasthan government has constituted a committee of top officials to review the guidelines on security outside airports.
Committee is headed by the additional chief secretary, Mukesh Sharma and includes officials from police and home department and Jaipur Development Commissioner. Mandate to the body is to study guidelines sent by the Centre on security aspects of areas that falls adjacent to airports.
"Bureau of civil aviation security has made it clear that areas outside the airport are under the purview of state governments. To ensure that security of airports is not compromised they have sent guidelines. Committee will reviews these and send their suggestions" said an official who is part of the body.
The committee recommendations will be important as construction of high-rise buildings near the vicinity of Jaipur airport was halted after objections were raised by none other than chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
Bureau of civil aviation security too has already issued draft of standard operating procedures (SOP) to deal with the monitoring and regulation of land use activity including constructions. It included scrutiny of other activities outside the perimeter wall up to a distance of 100 metres, in order to address security and safety concerns at the airport.
