Surveillance stepped up at Tiruchi airport

Tiruchi: An alert issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in view of Independence Day has prompted security personnel to step up surveillance at the Tiruchi international airport.

The alert has been sent to all airports across the country by BCAS, the national regulatory authority for civil aviation security, for a period from August 6 to 20, airport sources said.

Acting on the alert, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which provides round-the-clock security at the airport, has enhanced its surveillance. In addition to other vital areas falling within the airport premises, CISF personnel have also brought the city side of the airport under increased vigil. Teams of CISF personnel armed with automatic weapons have been posted on the city side.
