Bagdogra Airport on alert after explosives found hidden in medicine bottles in passenger's luggage

Security agencies at the Bagdogra Airport were put on alert after explosives were found in a passenger's luggage on Friday. The passenger has been detained for interrogation by the security personnel.

India Today reported that Trinitrotoluene (TNT) was found hidden inside medicine bottles in a passenger's luggage, as per officials. The report further said that "the explosives were discovered during a routine X-ray screening of the baggage." As per an ANI update, the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities.

A similar incident was reported from New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to media reports, a dummy IED, which turned out to be an assembled mobile power bank was detected by security personnel at Level 4 of IGI Airport's Terminal 1 during the screening of the baggage. The baggage was registered under the name of Sheikh Firoz Shabbir.

Recently, there have been several instances of suspicous objects being found in passenger's luggage. On Thursday too, officials at the IGI airport were sent into a tizzy after a suspicious object was found in a passenger's luggage in the cargo screening of an Indigo Airlines flight.

In another similar incident,seven dummy bombs were found at Mangalore and Delhi airports, which had baffled airport authorities.
