Man held for smuggling gold worth Rs 43 lakh at Delhi airport

New Delhi: A man was today arrested by the customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth Rs 43 lakh at the international airport here by hiding it inside an LED television.
The accused was intercepted after his arrival from Jeddah via Dubai.
"On his personal and baggage search, 14 gold bars collectively weighing about 1.5 kg were recovered. The gold bars were concealed inside the LED television carried by him," a customs official said.
The gold bars, valuing about Rs 43 lakh, have been seized, he said, adding the accused, who hails from Rajasthan, has been arrested.
