New Delhi: Security agencies have launched a manhunt to locate a dog that has gone missing on the tarmac side of the Delhi airport after it escaped from an incoming air cargo cage.
Officials said the incident occurred in the noon when a CISF officer noticed a brown coloured dog, owned by a retired naval officer, roaming in the cargo apron area of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
The officer immediately alerted the sentries and other airport security staff deployed on the tarmac side to locate the canine, they said.
A team of CISF personnel, airlines staff and animal catchers are looking for the dog on the airside of the airport but it is untraceable till now, they added.
"The dog was booked onboard an Air India cargo from Cochin and it escaped out of its cage upon landing here," he said.
The owner of the dog has been given a special pass of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and he is accompanying the security personnel in tracing the dog on the airside, including the cargo area.
