GoAir cancels Delhi-Srinagar flight, leaves passengers in lurch

Srinagar: GoAir cancelled its flight to Srinagar at the lat minute on Sunday morning and some female passengers have accused the airline staff at Delhi airport of misbehaving with them after they sought adjustment in alternate flights.
The flight G8-128 was supposed to depart from the IGI Airport, New Delhi at 8:55am and reach Srinagar by 10:40am. “They put us through hell. Just 15 minutes before boarding they informed us that the flight has been cancelled, they can't refund us and we have to get new tickets booked,” said Shayesta Nazir, a Srinagar-based law scholar.
The ladies passengers alleged the airline later on arranged seats for few male passengers and told the females that they could arrange the seats for them only next day (Monday morning). “We replied who will pay for our lodging for the night and the airline staff got infuriated, saying go where from you came,” said Rabia Hassan, Bandipora-based lawyer.  “All passengers were infuriated but what is more important is how they misbehaved with girls who had no lodging whatsoever in Delhi,” said Shayesta.
Later on many of the passengers went back to hotels and others booked new tickets. “I along with my family had come from Maharashtra and had made all plans accordingly but this is very sad when at last moment the flight stands cancelled. The new tickets cost us fortunes,” said a tourist, who didn’t want to be named because he is traveling back from Kashmir in GoAir.
The passengers demand that the airline must refund their money. “What if it had happened with us in middle of a night or we had no option to buy a new ticket which cost us huge sum this time too,” said Rabia.
