We made aviation affordable for the masses: PM Modi at Rajkot

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasised his government's initiatives to make "aviation affordable" for the masses, instead of letting it remain the preserve of the rich.
"Aviation cannot be about rich people. We have made aviation affordable - it is now within the reach of the less privileged," he said at a public meeting in Gujarat's Rajkot.
PM Modi was in the city to lay the foundation stone of the Rajkot Greenfield Airport in Surendranagar.
He spoke at length about India's aviation sector, and highlighted his government's efforts at strengthening it.
"India did not have an aviation policy since Independence. Our government made one and decided to strengthen the sector, connecting faraway locations and limiting air fares on shorter routes," the PM said.
