CISF nabs man for smuggling Forex at Dumdum airport

Kolkata: A person was apprehended by the CISF officials on Saturay night at the NSCBI airport after he was caught trying to take unaccounted foreign currency hidden inside his socks. This has been one of the largest seizure of foreign exchange at the NSCBI airport in last couple of months.
According to sources, on Saturday night a CISF official on duty spotted the person walking in an unusual way. The man, a resident of Maharashtra, was then intercepted and was frisked. During his frisking, the CISF officials found that something was concealed in his socks and hence, the passenger was subjected to a thorough checking. During enquiry he failed to produce any valid document for the currency he was carrying.
"A total of 25,500 euros and USD 700 were recovered from the passenger. The man has been handed over to the Customs authorities for further investigation," CISF spokesperson Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Hemendra Singh said in Delhi.
