JDA sends land buy plan for new airport to govt

Jaipur: The state government will acquire 2,094 hectares of land for the new greenfield airport project in Shivdaspura area nearly 25 kms from the existing Sanganer airport.
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) after identifying the land has forwarded the proposal to the state government for land acquisition on Thursday.
An official said, the JDA had earlier proposed to acquire 2,100.8 hectares of land in 20 villages for the new airport. This land has been earmarked for the past 12 years. However, in the revised draft, the JDA has proposed to acquire land from 15 villages. "After discussing the proposal with zonal officials, the proposal has been forwarded to the state government. The district administration would be acquiring land for the project."
He added, "As per the proposal, the operational area would be 6 km in length and 2.5 km in width. Four hundred hectares would be earmarked for developing hotel, lounge etc,"
After the recent visit of minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha, the state government expedited the exercise to acquire land for second airport in the city.
