Chennai: As heavy rains lashed the city on Sunday night, passengers inside the Chennai airport too felt the impact.

There were leakages in the domestic terminal at a few places from the roof, sources said. We have already started the repair work and it will be sorted out soon,” an official said.

Sources said, the baggage conveyor belt got wet due to water leakage.

According to Meteorological department, Meenambakkam recorded 10cm of rain in the past 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Monday.

It subsequently returned by 3 a.m. Landing of several flights from destinations including Paris, Mumbai, Kuwait, Thiruvananthapuram and Doha were delayed by half hour to an hour.
