3 Delhi flights cancelled, eight have delayed landings

Mohali: The fog affect once again came to haunt airline operators as three flights were cancelled while eight had delayed landings at the Chandigarh international airport on Thursday. Twelve flights also departed late from the airport due to dense fog.
The three flights which were cancelled did not depart from Delhi, said airport spokesperson. Air India flight AI-9831, Alliance Air CD-831 and Spice Jet flight SG-2831 were cancelled from Delhi. All three flights had scheduled arrival in Chandigarh before 8 am.
Air India airport manager R K Negi said that, "The flight was cancelled from Delhi and Delhi-bound 64 passengers from Chandigarh were provided private taxi by Air India to reach Delhi airport. The flight was cancelled due to bad weather conditions at Chandigarh airport."

Of the 9 flights which had delayed arrival at the airport, Air India from Pune and Indigo from Delhi arrived late by three hours. Air India flight AI-814 with scheduled arrival at 2.50pm arrived three hours late at 5.50 pm. Air India officials said that the flight departed late from Pune at 3.33pm against the scheduled departure of 12.20pm. Similarly, Indigo flight 6E-545 having scheduled arrival at 7.30am arrived late by 3.07 hours at 10.37am. The flight departed at 9.45am against the scheduled arrival of 6.35am from Delhi, said an official. Another official at the airport said that bad weather conditions were prevailing, which had reduced visibility.
Apart the 13 flights from Delhi, seven other flights were either cancelled or delayed. The other flights which got delayed were Air India Mumbai flight by one hour and 14 minutes, Jet Airways Delhi flight (9W-2605) by one hour and 25 minutes, another Jet Airways flight (9W-2651) by 75 minutes, Jet Airways from Jaipur by 40 minutes, Spice Jet from Delhi by 34 minutes, GoAir from Mumbai by 24 minutes and Indigo from Mumbai by 33 minutes.
