Air Asia flight grounded after technical glitch at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar: A major tragedy was averted at Srinagar ‘International’ airport as Delhi-bound Air Asia bound flight was grounded minutes after it took off following a technical glitch. However, all passengers were evacuated safely, officials informed.
An official informed that Air Asia plane was scheduled to fly to Delhi at 11 am. However, minutes after its take off due to technical snag in the engine of the airplane, it was grounded and pulled back from the runway.
“There was a snag in the aeroplane’s engine filter. The filter had jammed due to dust which hindered the take off of this flight,” said a senior executive of Air Asia adding that “filter was flown from Delhi after which the flight could take off after four hours of its scheduled departure.”
“Although it was not a major glitch but for the safety of the passengers we decided against flying before rectifying fault,” he added.
Director Srinagar Airport, Sharad Kumar said that Air Asia flight was grounded few minutes after taking off. “All the passengers were evacuated safely. The flight then took off at around 3 pm after the air carrier rectified the fault.”
