Dabolim Airport will continue to function even after commissioning of Mopa Airport: Goa CM

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday told State Legislative Assembly that the civilian enclave at Dabolim Airport will continue to function even after commissioning of Mopa Airport.
In a written reply to a question tabled by Congress MLA Francisco Silveira, the chief minister said, ''The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India vide letter No. AV.20015/11/2008-AD dated 1st July 2010 has communicated approval for continuation of civilian operations at Dabolim Civil Aviation Enclave, even after the commissioning of the new International airport at Mopa.''
The MLA had saught to know the status of Dabolim Airport after the completion of the Mopa Airport and whether the Government would obtain a written undertaking from the Union Government that Dabolim Airport would be kept operational for both international and domestic flights in future.
In response to another question tabled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Rajesh Patnekar, the Chief Minister said the government had signed concession agreement with GMR Goa International Airport Limited for development of Greenfield International Airport at Mopa in Pernem taluka on November 8, 2016.
