Dabolim to run along with Mopa airport

Porvorim: The Goa International Airport at Dabolim will continue to operate civilian flights, even after Mopa International Airport becomes operational in 2020, chief minister Manohar Parrikar told the assembly during Question Hour on Wednesday.
The question was tabled by St Andre legislator Francisco Silveira, on whether the civilian enclave at the naval airport in Dabolim, South Goa, would continue to function after the commissioning of the Mopa International Airport in North Goa.
An official letter sent from the Union ministry of civil aviation in 2010, "has communicated approval for continuation of civilian operations at Dabolim civil aviation enclave, even after the commissioning of the new international airport at Mopa," the chief minister said.
To another question by Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, the chief minister, who is also the state minister for civil aviation said that the first phase of Mopa greenfield project would be commissioned by September 2020.
