From Dec 15, travel from airport to Panaji in 15 min

Panaji: The near hour-long journey from Goa International Airport to Panaji will be reduced to a 15-minute breezy cruise from December 15 with Drishti Marine opening bookings for the ferry service.
While trial runs have begun, the authorities are waiting for union minister of shipping Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate the ferry service in the second week of December.
The ferry service was supposed to commence on November 20 but due to delay in permission from the state government and the busy schedule of Gadkari, the Mormugao Port Trust and Drishti Marine have decided to push the launch of the catamaran service to mid-December, said sources.
As of now, Drishti Marine has received permission to dock at Panaji and Old Goa, while permission to dock at Sinquerim is awaiting approval before the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA).
"The boats are in the water and we are taking trial runs as per schedule. We have opened online reservations from December 15 for air passengers," said chief executive officer G Ravi Shakar.
The airport ferry terminal on Baina beach is ready and on Thursday, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and Drishti Marine chairman and managing director Rajiv Somani conducted a site visit.
Drishti Marine has acquired two catamaran vessels, each with a sitting capacity of 30-40 passengers. The vessels will ferry tourists and air passengers between Vasco, Baga, Old Goa, Sinquerim and, at a later stage, Cavelossim and Palolem.
