Gold, foreign currencies seized from passengers at Chennai airport

Chennai" Customs officials at Anna International Airport in Chennai seized gold and foreign currency notes from two passengers on Thursday.
Ramdas Swamy, 72 , an Indian passport holder, arrived here from Singapore in an Air India Express flight. He was intercepted at the exit of the arrival hall on suspicion and searched.
Four gold chains weighing 209 grams and one gold ring weighing 12 grams, all of 22 karat purity, were recovered. The total value of the gold jewellery was Rs 6 lakh.
On the same day, 55 notes of US dollars in the denomination of 100, equivalent to Rs 3.50 lakh, were recovered from Jesuraj, 38 , an Indian passport holder, who was to go to Singapore in an IndiGo flight.
