Malaysian who was stranded in India to return home

Dewa Suriya, who ran into some trouble in India for overstaying, will arrive in Malaysia tonight (Dec 8).

The 37-year-old woman and her son Darshan, 4, left India this evening on board a Malindo Air flight from the Trichy airport in Tamilnadu.

Dewa Suriya created headlines recently when a video clip of her crying and begging for help went viral on social media.

She claimed that she was trapped in her husband’s hometown and was being physically abused by her mother-in-law.

She will also be provided a temporary home at the Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam in Rawang.

"I am relieved that there is a place for me to go to when I arrive," said Dewa Suriya, who said her mother and siblings do not have a permanent home.
