‘Notification on land acquisition in 10 days’

Jodhpur: The state government on Tuesday informed Rajasthan High Court that land acquisition notification for Jodhpur airport expansion will be issued in the next 10 days.
While hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Libra India, a division bench of Justice Sangeet Lodha and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur ordered the state's additional advocate general Rajesh Panwar to complete notification process and submit the status report on December 18.
The PIL, contended that Jodhpur being the second largest city of Rajasthan, in the recent past, the institutionalization, industrialization, government establishments, research centres, business centre, energy hubs and tourisms have developed to a great extent around Jodhpur. However, to the utter dismay of Jodhpur, its air connectivity, with the rest of the part of the country as well as world has not grown at all. The lack of air connectivity will prove detrimental to the development of Jodhpur as well as surrounding areas. Therefore, it is necessary to have an independent fully functional Civil Airport in Jodhpur, senior counsel MS Singhvi on behalf of Libra India argued.
