IndiGo flight engine fails midair, pilot declares full emergency with 180 passengers aboard

New Delhi: In an emergency situation last night, a Mumbai to Bengaluru IndiGo flight faced a major technical glitch after takeoff and the pilot was forced to take precautionary measures and return back to Mumbai under full emergency conditions. However, a tragedy was averted as the jet landed safely at the airport. After the incident, an alternate aircraft was provided for stranded passengers in Mumbai to travel to Bengaluru. As of now the matter is brought to the notice of DGCA and is under investigation.
The India Today reports, that due to engine failure of IndiGo 6E 565 aircraft after takeoff, the pilot declared a full emergency and decided to return back to Mumbai. There were around 180 passengers on board at the time of the incident. After this, an alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers to travel to Bengaluru. The IndiGo 6E 565 flies between Mumbai and Bengaluru. It usually takes off around 10:30 pm and lands in Bengaluru just after midnight.
