Nath Nagari civil enclave taxiway realigned after IAF security concerns

Bareilly: Two more hectare of land will be acquired from farmers for the Nath Nagari civil enclave terminal project as the alignment of the proposed taxiway is being changed. This was announced by district magistrate RV Singh here on Sunday. A decision to the effect was taken after consultation with Indian Air Force officers at Trishul airbase, he said.
DM Singh said the administration has enough funds and farmers are willing to hand over their land for the project. He added that the IAF wanted to carry out some construction on the site, which was earlier vacated to construct a taxiway.
“IAF officers said for security reasons, they cannot allow the taxiway decided earlier in the previous layout. Hence, we have decided to make an alteration in the layout. Now, we will require two hectare more. As there is no scarcity of funds for acquisition of land and farmers are ready to give up their land, there will be no delay in construction of the taxiway as per the new layout,” the DM said.
Meanwhile, according to administrative sources, special secretary, civil aviation department in UP government, SP Gangwar has said several airlines have shown an interest to start flights from Bareilly.
City magistrate UP Singh, said, “Officials of the Airport Authority of India, Trishul airbase and UP civil aviation department participated in a meeting held in Lucknow on Friday. Several issues regarding security and safety of IAF base and date of commencement of commercial flights from Bareilly were discussed. As the civil aviation department has given sanction to acquire more land, the same will be purchased very soon.”
