Chennai: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will set up a solid waste management compost yard for residents near Chennai airport. The plant will come up at the Meenambakkam burial ground near Tirusulam railway station.
At a function held at the airport on Wednesday, the AAI signed an MoU with the Chennai Corporation to set up the Rs 32.60-lakh yard. It will be set up using the AAI’s corporate social responsibility fund.
Airport director G Chandramouli said, "The work will start on Thursday and is expected to be completed by June 15. The AAI will release the payment in different phases and monitor the progress closely."
