Anti-bird spikes soon at Swami Vivekananda Airport

Raipur: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will be installing anti-bird spikes at various buildings and boundaries of Swami Vivekananda Airport to prevent birds from roosting in the airport premises as part of air safety norms, official sources informed.

The spikes prevent the birds from landing on boundary walls and other locations of bulildings while also ensuring the species are not harmed.

Birds in the airport regions are a hazard for aircraft landing and taking off.

AAI has also drawn up ambitious plans for creating infrastructure for an international level business and leisure destination on the city side of Swami Vivekananda Airport .

The project aims to  provide a world-class environment, in which people can work, play and stay while catering to the surge in traffic of corporate travellers and tourists, officials informed.
