Chennai airport to try new routes to ease traffic jams

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is carrying out a trial to open the central arm (which lies unused for years) of a vehicular bridge on the airport premises. This initiative will bring down the traffic jams and hassles travellers face while reaching the airport.
The new traffic pattern will be followed between 2 PM and 5 PM on Monday and Tuesday.

A senior official of AAI said, “We want to first try it out before implementing it permanently. A survey will be conducted during the trial period on the flow of vehicles. The airport receives around 20,000 to 30,000 cars every day.”
“The trial will help us understand how the traffic flow will work on the ground. The results will be studied to find out if any changes need to be done to the traffic pattern” he added.
If all goes well, then they are planning to implement the changes in traffic routes permanently after two weeks.
