Unclaimed bag triggers bomb scare at Raipur airport

Raipur: An unclaimed gunny bag triggered bomb scare at Swami Vivekanand Airport Mana, Raipur, on Sunday afternoon. The bag was found in a lawn of the park in the Airport premise.

However, later it was found a pure hoax and that the gunny bag was found containing only cow dung.

An unattended gunny bag found lying at lawn of the Airport Park created panic for the security officials at Raipur airport and also sent Raipur police into tizzy for at least a couple of hours.

As soon as some visitors reported the airport officials about the abandoned gunny bag in the lawn, the entire area was cordoned off by the Airport Security Authority officials and employees. Mana Police also rushed to the spot when they got the information. Dog squad and bomb disposal squad also reached the spot to control the situation.

As movement of flights i.e. arrival and departure were going on at the airport, the security officials took the matter seriously and sealed the entire area. The bag was later examined by the bomb disposal squad and found the news a ‘hoax’.
