Flout as usual at airport

Dum Dum: Violation of the "no-parking rule" by cars fitted with beacons or boards announcing that they belong to one government department or another continues unchecked in front of the city airport's terminal building.

Metro had reported on Friday (see picture) how such vehicles belonging to government departments or flaunting VIP stickers were guaranteed unlimited time right in front of the terminal without anyone blowing the whistle on them.

Entry of private vehicles into the airport is free for 10 minutes, a rule the "VIP vehicles" flout with impunity.

On Friday, a number of such vehicles were seen parked outside the terminal building at the arrival level for hours, making a mockery of the "No Parking" board that asserts that any violation would attract a fine of Rs 3,000.
