Flight restrictions: Final decision only after discussions, says Navy

Visakhapatnam: Responding to the apprehensions noticed in the section of media that the restrictions proposed by the Navy on the movement of civilian aircraft at the city airport may hit the aviation and other sectors, the Indian Navy clarified that the decision will not restrict or reduce the number of civilian flight operating from or to Visakhapatnam.

The proposed restrictions are from 9. 30 am to 12. 30 pm between Monday to Friday, 3 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. The Navy, in a release on Monday, said, “The slots have been proposed taking into account frequency of civilian flights to ensure least disturbance.
Out of the 40 civilian flights daily, on an average only six to eight operate between 9.30 am to 12. 30 pm. Moreover, a final decision on the proposed dedicated military slots will only be taken after discussions with AAI and airline operators at Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi.”
