Halcon’s air cargo exports up 44%

Nashik: Halcon, a joint venture of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Container Corporation of India (Concor) has registered 44% rise in exports by air during 2017-18.
The company exported 5,500 tonne goods by air during 2017-18, compared to around 3,800 tonne in the previous year.
Of the total exports, 2,000 tonne was perishable goods like vegetables and fruits and the rest was general goods, along with live goats and sheep.
In 2016-17, the exports consisted of 2,500 tonne perishable goods and 1,300 tonne other goods.
While Halcon exports most of the goods by air via Mumbai, it is exporting sheep and goats directly from Ozar to Sharjah for the past few years. Last year, over 54,000 sheep and goats were exported through 34 cargo flights.
The company has set up an inland container depot (ICD) and air cargo complex near Ozar, 18km from the city.
Halcon is exporting goods by sea also. Around 14,000 twenty-feet equivalent units (TEUs) were exported from the ICD here during 2017-18, of which 3,600 TEUs were grapes and 2,700 TEUs were onions.
