International airport is likely to come up at Balh in Mandi

Shimla: The first international airport of Himachal Pradesh is likely to come up at Balh valley of Mandi district and this site would be finalized within a week after a satellite survey.
In May this year, a four-member team from Airports Authority of India (AAI) had conducted the pre-feasibility survey of five sites in Mandi district and now Balh site has almost been finalized.
A total of 698 acres of land will be acquired for the airport in the Ner Chowk area.
Interacting with media persons in Mandi on Sunday, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that AAI team selected the site near Ner Chowk in Balh valley where 5-km-long runway could be constructed. He said following a satellite survey, a site would be finalized within a week.
The AAI team had inspected five sites at Ner Dhangu of Balh sub-division, Basadhar and Gogradhar of Padhar sub-division, Moviseri in Gohar sub-division and Nandgarh in Sadar Mandi, including them in the pre-feasibility survey.
