Jet Airways connects domestic dots

Mumbai: India’s Jet Airways started its regional connectivity expansion under the government’s UDAN scheme linking the holy city of Allahabad with the state capitals of Lucknow and Patna.

Seven routes have been awarded to the airline in the second bidding phase under the government’s UDAN scheme that attempts to improve air connectivity countrywide.

The airline launched five effective 14 June. They are: Lucknow-Allahabad-Lucknow; Patna-Allahabad-Patna; Nagpur-Allahabad-Nagpur; Indore-Allahabad-Indore and Delhi–Nashik-Delhi.

The other two pending routes are Lucknow–Bareilly–Lucknow and Delhi-Bareilly-Delhi.

They should be launched this week beginning, 18 June, once necessary clearances and approvals have been received at Bareilly airport.
Jet Airways will deploy its 72-seat, ATR-72 aircraft on all seven routes that connect Allahabad with various other destinations in its network.

Operating three flights to each destination, the new routes will expand connectivity from the city on six days instead of previously just three days.
