Mihan employing over 10k, number to rise: Maharashtra Airport Development Company

Nagpur:  Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has claimed that Mihan is employing over 10,000 persons and the figure is expected to increase significantly in the coming months when more units start operations. The figure includes construction workers and engineers engaged by under construction units.
MADC chief engineer SV Chahande said that the employment figure available with the company was 8,620. “However, this data is months old and going by the economic activities in Mihan the figure is well above 10,000. This includes SEZ and non-SEZ units. Companies do not inform us about fresh recruitment and we have to extract information from them,” he added. The office of Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari claims to have the latest figures and puts the number at 11,198.
Chahande said that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was the biggest employer in Mihan with 3,500 jobs. “Future Supply Chains, the distribution centre of Big Bazars all over India, comes second with 1,250 jobs. Hexaware Technologies, a software company, has 900 staffers on its roll in Mihan,” he added.
