New Delhi: Indian travellers to Italy and to Europe through that country are soon going to be spoilt for choices. Italian carrier Air Italy, which is 49% owned by Qatar Airways, will start flights between Milan and Delhi from October 28 and between Milan Malpensa and Mumbai from October 30. Air India and Alitalia already have direct flights between India and Italy and Air Italy will be the third airline to do so.
Air Italy’s spokesman Simona Danieli said both the routes will start with five times a week flight and be operated by Airbus A-330 that will have 236 economy and 24 business class seats. “The flight from Delhi will depart at 6 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and reach Milan Malpensa at 10.30 am (all times local). The flight to Delhi will depart at 4 pm. The flight from Mumbai will leave at 4.50 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The return flight will leave at 2.20 pm.” She said the airline is offering promotional return fares starting at Rs 27,365.
Air Italy flights will start exactly a year after financially challenged Italian airline Alitalia restarted flights to India. Alitalia has a daily direct flights between Delhi and Rome from October 30, 2017. The traffic on India-Milan sector is more than those flying between India and Rome. The fashion capital is among the top 10 destinations from India in terms of air travel between India and Europe.
