Raipur: Barely 25 days after it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Air Odisha flight connecting Bastar and Raipur, would be grounded following a major technical glitch with the landing gear of nearly two-decade old Beechcraft 1900D. This flight will not be operational between July 9 to 21. It may be recalled that PM Narendra Modi on June 14 inaugurated the first domestic flight service for people of Chhattisgarh between Jagdalpur-Raipur-Vishakhapatanam for providing affordable air services to common people under Udega Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAAN) Project of Central Govt. The state’s maiden regional flight service was flagged-off by the PM Modi from Bhilai, even as some aviation experts had raised serious concerns about the operation and maintenance of the 18-seater twin-engine Beechcraft 1900D, the production of which was discontinued 17 years ago. Earlier also, a day after its first commercial air operations began on June 15, the flight had to be cancelled due to some major reasons.
