Airlines asked to compensate passenger after electronic items replaced with iron rods in baggage

Ahmedabad: A consumer court has ordered Jet Airways to pay Rs 25,000 to a passenger who found two iron rods and books in his baggage in place of 11 electronic items and a cell phone when he came to India from Poland. According to case details, a resident of Poland, Alak Pandya came to Ahmedabad on May 6, 2010 to attend a wedding. He flew from Warsaw to Brussels to catch a connecting flight to Mumbai. When he reached Mumbai, he did not get one of his three bags. He filed the Property Irregularity Report and the airlines promised him to send the bag to his residence in Ahmedabad.
Two days later, the airlines informed Pandya that the bag was found and the bag was sent to his home. But when Pandya opened the bag, he found two iron rods and a few books in the bag. He found 11 articles missing from the bag, which was not only damaged, but its lock was also found broken.
