Setback for flyers as AI cuts frequency of flights

Bhopal: Already suffering due to poor connectivity with other cities, Raja Bhoj airport has suffered another setback with Air India reducing its frequency of flights, besides discontinuing its morning flight to Mumbai. Sensing the opportunity, Jet Airways has proposed to start an afternoon flight to Mumbai and Delhi and also connect a city in South (Chennai or Hyderabad).
AI has now only three flights from Bhopal-two for Delhi and one for Mumbai. Jet Airways has four flights, two each for Mumbai and Delhi in the morning and evening. There are 3 flights to Mumbai and one from Delhi. On the condition of anonymity, a senior official of Jet Airways told TOI that this is a big opportunity for them to connect more cities with Bhopal.
“At a recent meeting with the airport authorities, we had shown interest to start few flights from Bhopal, but only with the winter schedule which will start from October,” said the official.
