Hundreds stranded at airport due to upset flight plans

New Delhi: It was a chaotic weekend for those trying to board flights from IGI airport. As most of the early morning flights were affected by fog, people were seen running around the airport terminals to keep their medical, educational or official appointments. Those changing over at IGI were also in distress.
"This has been my worst experience in air travel. I had to attend the mourning of a close acquaintance at Chennai. Not only are the flights running late, the carrier staff at the counters can't specify when the next flight will arrive. Some passengers are being shifted to other planes, while others are not getting that choice. It is hard to understand how this place is functioning," said Nardeep Singh en route to Chennai.
With dense fog around the airport, and no rain or wind to disperse it, passengers were tense throughout the day.
Visibility remained low, impacting both takeoffs and landings. People were either waiting for their flights at the airport complex or trying to get another ticket out of the city.
