Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has handled a total of 391 flights, including 196 departures and 195 arrival movements, in the first week of the resumption of domestic air travel, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), that manages the airport, said on Monday.
MIAL on Monday released the flight operations data for the first week after flight resumption and said that the Mumbai International Airport has handled a total of 42,503 passengers. It includes 31,665 passengers at departures and 10,838 at arrivals.
The airport operator also informed that starting June 1, GoAir has started operations with three departures and as many arrival flights on the Patna, Lucknow and Varanasi route. The airline carried 320 passengers at arrivals and 538 passengers at departures from CSMIA.
In a press statement, MIAL said, "Following the mandate by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the State, CSMIA operates 25 commercial passenger flight movements. CSMIA was operating to 14 sectors until Wednesday and saw two sectors - Kolkata and Rajkot - added on Thursday. In the last one week, the passenger load capacity has been the highest on [the] Mumbai-Delhi route with 8,130 passengers departing out of CSMIA."
Ever since the resumption of domestic flight operations, the safety aspects and SOPs have become the priority for the airport operators. On this front, airport operator MIAL said it has put all measures in place.
