IndiGo, Airbus tie-up for aircraft upkeep training

Mumbai: New Delhi based low-cost airline IndiGo has tied up with Airbus to launch Airbus Active learning and Competence focused Training (AACT), which will use virtual reality for maintenance of A320 series of aircraft.
The AACT programme - the first such outside Europe and the first in India - combines a traditional classroom setting with computers, allowing maintenance engineers to train virtually using aircraft simulation software.
Bruce Ashby, CEO and President of IndiGo said: "Apart from using conventional aids, for the first time in India, this training will involve new generation training tools like the M/FTD and virtual aircraft, which provide a realistic simulated environment for training purposes, covering not only the cockpit, but the whole aircraft. It allows our employees to move past traditional textbook training into a hands-on environment that gives real, practical experience in the classroom."
