Shanghai Airlines to open cargo routes to India

Taipei: Taiwan's Eva Airways plans to take a 25 per cent stake in the cargo unit of Shanghai Airlines (SAL) to expand SAL's international cargo freight, Eva said on Tuesday.
SAL Air Cargo operates cargo flights to 48 Chinese cities and several foreign countries, but plans to launch a global air freight network and will soon open cargo routes to India and the US west coast, Eva said in a statement.
Eva is Taiwan's second-largest international airline. In recent years it has launched business links with Chinese airlines due to the growing trade links across the Taiwan Strait.
In August 2003, Eva formed a business alliance with SAL for trans-shipment of cargo between Shanghai and Taipei via Macau as Taipei bans direct flight across the Taiwan Strait.
