Air cargo complex custodian GSEC Director Samir Mankad said that the cargo complex will initially cater to only flights having three to five tonne capacity and will be expanded as and when a dedicated freighter commences operations from the City.
The cargo complex has been built on 3800 sq feet of space with a provision for expansion. It comprises warehouse, office spaces for Custom and GSEC officials, unloading section where goods are screened using an x-ray machine and the loading section from where the trolleys are taken to the aircraft hanger. There is also a separate section for imported goods and a strong-room for storing costly cargo.
