AirAsia India sees improved occupancy in September quarter

NEW DELHI: Low-cost carrier AirAsia India flew little over four lakh passengers in the September quarter while its fleet expanded to five aircraft during the same period.

AirAsia India, which began operations in June 2014, is a three-way joint venture between AirAsia Berhard, Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia's Telestra Tradeplace.

The no-frills airline carried 4,16,182 passengers in the three months ended September, higher than 1,28,089 people flown during the year-ago period, according to latest operational statistics report released by AirAsia Berhard today.

In the latest September quarter, AirAsia India had a load factor of 76 per cent, marginally higher than 75 per cent seen in the year-ago period.

At the end of September, the local carrier had a fleet of five aircraft.
