Curbs on night flight operations at Dabolim airport in March

Panaji: Nearly 10 flights, including a few international charters, will have to reschedule their arrivals and departures in March as authorities have decided to curtail operations between 10pm and 4am. The change in flight operations will come into effect when work to strengthen the runway's shoulder and drains begins, sources said.
The Indian Navy has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) informing that the long-pending work to strengthen and level the runway shoulders will be taken up from March 1, during which time landing and take-off operations will not be possible, an official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said. The work is likely to be completed within 30 days.
The repair work has been pending since the summer of 2015 and was not completed even during the subsequent phase of work undertaken in November.
Among the flights that have been rescheduled, there are seven arrivals and two departures. AAI has already rescheduled flights, instructing that they arrive either before 10pm or after 4am. Airport sources said that GoAir may cancel the Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai flight it operates close to midnight.
