Scheme for regional air connectivity to be launched in a fortnight, says Sharma

Union MoS for civil aviation and art and culture Mahesh Chandra Sharma said the Centre's regional air connectivity scheme will be launched in the next 15 days. Under this, cheap air service to Jaisalmer will not just start in the city, it will be possible at a price of Rs 2,500. Apart from this, the Centre recently started the Desert Circuit scheme for which Rs 170 crore has been reserved, as part of which Jaisalmer has been included in the first phase, Sharma told the media while inspecting the civil airport at Jaisalmer. Sonar MP, Ram Choudhary was also with him.
He said now Jaisalmer will soon boast of air service throughout the year and tourists will be able to fly in all 12 months. Here, along with tourism there is a treasure of art and culture, and, therefore, Jaisalmer can be developed as a major tourist hub. It is for this that the facility of regional air service is being started. Sharma said Jaisalmer comes under tier-II city, and hence tourists to this city will be able to avail cheap air service.
Considering the number of temples in the city and to boost religious tourism, Centre has also reserved a package under the Prasad (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme. Shrinath temple, Mehandipur Balaji and Khatushyamji have already been included in this scheme.
