Attention fliers: Carnival to take off on Oct 30 to connect Tiruchy-Chennai

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given clearance to Air Carnival to start its services from Tiruchy International Airport. The final nod given on Tuesday was the last step for the air carrier which is all set for booking tickets to Chennai.

The ATR 72-500, a twin-engine turboprop short-haul airliner will fly between Chennai and Tiruchy on a daily basis and enhance regional connectivity. This will be the second exclusive airline to provide domestic connectivity, after Jet Airways. With existing three services of Jet Airways to Chennai and an added single service from Air Carnival will finally end the carrier shortage for flyers from Tiruchy.

The process of obtaining DGCA clearance was underway for the past one month after the AAI authorities had provided necessary clearance for the airline to commence operations. For the passengers’ convenience, the flight will start operating on October 30, morning. A senior official from AAI said, “The flight timings have been structured for the convenience of the passengers with the flight arriving at 9.20 am and departing at 9.45 am. As there are no other flights scheduled around that time, Air Carnival will be the only option for the passengers who fly for official purposes.”
