Operation planned at Vizag airport

Visakhapatnam: The strategy for the anti-Maoist operations which led to the killing of 24 Maoists by security forces at Ramanguda in Malkangiri district of Odisha in the wee hours of Monday was planned at Visakhapatnam airport about a week ago, according to senior police officials.
Sources said director general of central police reserve force K Durga Prasad held a meeting, which went on for about one-and-half-hours, with AP DGP N Sambasiva Rao and Telangana anti-Maoist operations officer Sudeep Lakhtakia at the Visakhapatnam airport last week to chalk out a plan to counter the Maoists following information about their increased movements in the Andhra Odisha Border area.
According to the sources, the CRPF DG was on his way to Chhattisgarh and had called for a meeting with the top police officers of AP and Telangana to discuss the strategy and improve coordination between the police personnel of the two states.
